　　Development and the Environment

　　With the development of industry, people are faced with the problem of a worsening environment. Fish are disappearing in many rivers and lots of green land is changing into desert.

　　What are the causes of this? Firstly, too much development of natural resources has greatly damaged the balance of nature. Many people only focus on the economic profits, without considering any means of environmental protection. Secondly, the government hasn’t taken any effective measures for the further development of the economy. Some departments only pay attention to their own benefit.

　　I think economic development and environmental protection are equally important. While industry keeps developing, more money should be spent on improving the environment.
