　　Helen: So when Lang Lang was five, he gave his first piano recital. A recital here means an individual performance of a piece of music. Oliver: 独奏 a recital。朗朗说他从那个时候开始起就立志成为一名音乐家。

　　Helen: From that point on. Also he said that it was his parents’ wish for him to be a musician.

　　When I was five, I gave my first recital, and from that point on, I made my mind to be a musician. I mean my parents always wanted me to be a musician - let’s put it this way - and plus I really love it, so it just fit in together.

　　Oliver: 现在看来他父母的愿望达成了，现在的朗朗已经是世界知名的古典音乐演奏家。

　　Helen: But such success doesn’t come easy. Although Lang Lang was a child prodigy, he had to work very hard through his childhood. So did he miss much?

　　Not a bit, over half of it! Plus, when I was in China, education is much harder for children. I’m not talking about universities, but once you're 5 or 6 years old.

　　Oliver: It brings memories back for me. 在中国，人们给教育赋予了太多的关注。朗朗也说他差不多失去了一半的童年时光。

　　Helen: So even if you’re just 5 or 6 years old, there’s a lot of pressure on you to do well at school.
