BBC Learning English – Pianist Lang Lang 钢琴家朗朗
Oliver: Spoil 溺爱。没错儿,有些时候是这样的,整个家庭都希望把最好的给孩子,他们为自己的孩子倾注了全部的爱。
Helen: And as Lang Lang said, this great attention from parents puts a lot of pressure on the children. And as a result, a lot of children are made to study the piano.

Because, I mean, most of the Chinese family only has one kid, because of this one child policy. So that’s why the kids are - not spoilt - but the parents pay so much attention to them, and they want everything for their kids. So, you know, my generation really are under lots of pressure from really supportive parents. And so therefore the piano becomes a very popular instrument.
Oliver: 在节目结束之前,我们还有最后一个问题问朗朗。
Helen: What does he think of his role in today’s musical world?

Certainly I’m Chinese, and I think it’s nice to do something like this, to help my native music to flow in the West.
Helen: Oh, that’s lovely.
Oliver: 朗朗也希望能够把中国音乐带给西方观众。
Helen: To help his native music to flow in the West.
Oliver: We wish him the best of luck in his career.
Helen: Well, Sadly, I’m afraid that’s all from us and Lang Lang today. Do join us next time for more star interviews from BBC Learning English.
